Ann’s Heart Purchases Former Sacred Heart Property to Continue Mission

Kristen McGee
Organization marks the beginning of a new chapter for the human service-based nonprofit

PHOENIXVILLE - March 21, 2024 - Ann’s Heart (www.annsheart.org), a growing nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a place of welcome and human services for the community, is the proud new owner of the former Sacred Heart Church campus in downtown Phoenixville.

The campus, located on the 100 block of Church Street, comprises the decommissioned church, the former school building, and two homes used by the parish in the past to house celebrants. Occupied by Ann’s Heart since 2016, the campus is home to the growing organization, as well as 10 area nonprofit partners including Trellis for Tomorrow and Alianzas de Phoenixville.

“As we stand at this pivotal juncture, the importance of sustainable support has never been more critical,” said Executive Director Kristen McGee. “The acquisition of the HEART Campus not only signifies growth, but also the need for a stable foundation to support this expansion.”

Ann’s Heart has raised more than $2 million towards its $3.5 million REPROJECT initiative designed to “RETAIN, RESTORE, and REIMAGINE” use of the property, including the most prominent building, the 100+ year old former church.

“One of the wonderful things about our community is the support they have provided,” McGee said. “Their donations and volunteer hours are an investment in the future of Ann’s Heart and the community we serve.”

The $1.8 million purchase was made possible through the support of US Senator Bob Casey, Representative Chrissy Houlahan, Chester County’s Department of Economic Development, and the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation.

“We are deeply grateful for your belief in our mission,” McGee said. “Your continued support lights the way for our journey.”
