About the Role

Ann’s Heart, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Phoenixville, PA, is hiring a part-time Kitchen Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the HEART Kitchen.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Kitchen Manager will report directly to the HEART Program Manager and be responsible for the daily operations of the HEART Kitchen. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage weekly maintenance of the HEART Kitchen
Manage supply ordering for the HEART Kitchen (including cleaning supplies, packaging, food for meals, etc.)
Open / close the HEART Kitchen for events or community meals
Manage semi-annual and annual certifications, inspections, and other scheduled maintenance
Help to supervise and coordinate kitchen volunteers and activities
Support HEART Kitchen events/rentals
Help to develop menus and meal plans for ongoing meal programs, including the CERAH Meal Program, School Lunch Program, and the monthly Pay It Forward Cafe community meal program

ADVANCEMENT:
Based on performance, this position has the potential to grow into a larger role in 2024.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Kitchen Manager will be needed several days during the week. Schedule varies from week to week based on scheduled programs and events. At least one weekend a month is required to oversee our Pay It Forward Cafe distribution.

Hours: Average of  15 - 20 hrs/week, with increased hours on Pay It Forward Cafe and Holiday Meal Program weeks

Salary: $18.00 / hr


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must embrace the mission of Ann’s Heart

  • Possess strong people and organizational skills, writing and mathematical skills, and patience 

  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals

  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.

  • Possess ServSafe Certification*

  • Have 2-4 years of experience in a commercial kitchen

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods of time

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in Google DRIVE (Sheets, Docs, and Forms)

  • A valid PA State Driver’s License and ability to drive to pick up items needed for food programs, including local pantries, food providers, farms/gardens, and equipment depots

  • Be able to provide all State and Federal clearances, including PA State Child Abuse and FBI fingerprinting

*If certification has lapsed or requires renewal OR applicant has 3+ years of kitchen experience, Ann’s Heart will provide ServSafe training and certification.
